School Holiday Tennis Camps at North Sydney Tennis & Fitness: What to Know Before You Book
By North Sydney Tennis & Fitness Coaching Team
School holidays have a way of arriving faster than you expect, and a week of unstructured downtime isn't always what an active kid needs. Our School Holiday Tennis Camps run across every school break at 37 Ridge Street, giving kids aged 4 to 14 a full or half day of coached tennis, games, and structured fun, whether they're already playing Hot Shots or trying a racquet for the first time. Here's what to expect before you book.

Who the camps are for
The camps welcome kids aged 4 to 14, across all ability levels, from a child who's never held a racquet to one already playing Orange or Green Stage Hot Shots. Coaches group kids by age and ability rather than running one blended session, so a first-timer isn't out of their depth next to a confident nine-year-old. You don't need to be an existing NSTG family to book a holiday camp spot, it's a genuinely good way for a new family to try us out over a school break before committing to a term.
What a day at camp looks like
Camp days combine coached tennis with games and free play, structured around keeping kids engaged rather than running drills all day. Coaching focuses on basic coordination and racquet skills, using larger, softer balls suited to skill development rather than full-speed play, similar in spirit to the early Hot Shots stages. Kids stay in the same peer group for the day, with multiple breaks built in for meals and free play. Fridays wrap the week with a round robin tournament, trophies and prizes, and a free BBQ lunch, a genuine highlight for most kids by the end of camp.
Full day, half day, or full week: format and pricing
Camps run as full day or half day sessions, bookable as a single day or a full week (four days) at a discount:
- Full week, full day$220
- Full week, half day$220
- Single full day$70
- Single half day$50
Booking a full week works out cheaper per day than single-day bookings, and it also means your child settles into the same peer group and routine for the whole break rather than dropping in and out. If you're not sure yet whether your family's schedule suits a full week, a single day is a low-commitment way to try it first.
What to pack
Send your child with a packed lunch and snacks, a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat, court sessions run outdoors regardless of the weather (see below), so sun protection matters even on an overcast day. Bring a tennis racquet if your child already has one; if not, racquets are available to borrow from the pro-shop on the day, so it's never a reason to miss out. Food is also available to purchase from the kiosk if you'd rather not pack a full lunch.
Weather policy
Our holiday programs run rain, hail or shine. On wet weather days, coaches shift to indoor activities rather than cancelling the session, so you can book with confidence regardless of the forecast.
Optional excursions
Full-day campers can add an optional excursion for $20 per child, including transport. Past excursions have included the movies, swimming, and rugby clinics, generally running for around two hours during the day. Excursions are optional and only available to full-day bookings, so they're a nice add-on rather than a required part of the program.
Before and after care
Before and after care is available for families who need drop-off or pick-up outside standard camp hours, worth asking about when you book if your work schedule doesn't line up neatly with camp start and finish times.
When camps run: 2026 school holiday dates
Camps run across every NSW school holiday period. For 2026, the NSW Department of Education's confirmed break dates (Eastern Division, which covers North Sydney) are:
- Term 1 to 2 break: 7 to 17 April
- Term 2 to 3 break: 6 to 17 July
- Term 3 to 4 break: 28 September to 9 October
- Summer break: from 18 December 2026
Specific camp week dates and booking windows are confirmed closer to each break, so check our holiday camps page or camps page for the current schedule before you plan around it.
How camps fit alongside term-time coaching
Holiday camps and term-time Hot Shots lessons work well together rather than replacing one another. A week of camp gives kids extra court time and a social, low-pressure environment to consolidate what they're learning in weekly lessons, without the structure of a formal Hot Shots session. If your child isn't yet enrolled in weekly coaching and wants to understand how the stage system works before committing to a term, our ANZ Tennis Hot Shots program guide explains how the Blue, Red, Orange, and Green stages work, and our age and stage guide helps you work out what's right for your child's age.
If you're travelling over the break or want a holiday option closer to another part of Sydney, our sister SSMG venues run their own holiday programs too, including school holiday camps at Galuwa Recreation Centre and camps at Ryde Multisport & Racquet Centre.

Book a Camp SpotHow to book
Camp spots can be booked online, or by calling us on (02) 9929 7172. If your child hasn't tried tennis with us before, it's also worth booking a FREE TRIAL Hot Shots lesson ahead of the holidays, so you know tennis is the right fit before committing to a full camp week. Popular weeks, especially the week with the Friday BBQ and tournament, tend to fill up, so booking ahead rather than the week of is worth doing if you can.
Summary
NSTG's School Holiday Tennis Camps give kids aged 4 to 14 a genuinely active, well-structured way to spend a school break, coached tennis, games, and a Friday BBQ and tournament to finish the week, whether your child is a complete beginner or already deep into the Hot Shots pathway. Full day, half day, single-day, and full-week options are available, camps run rain or shine, and racquets are provided if you don't have one. If your child is new to tennis, a FREE TRIAL Hot Shots lesson before the holidays is a great way to make sure it's the right fit before booking a full camp week.
FAQs
What ages can attend the school holiday camps?
Camps are open to kids aged 4 to 14, across all ability levels, grouped by age and skill so beginners and experienced players aren't mixed into the same session.
Do I need to book a full week, or can I book single days?
Either works. A full week (four days) costs $220 for full or half day, while single days are $70 (full day) or $50 (half day). A full week is better value per day if your schedule allows it.
What happens if it rains during camp?
Camps run rain, hail or shine. On wet weather days, coaches move the group to indoor activities rather than cancelling the session.
Does my child need their own racquet?
No. Bring one if you have it, but racquets are available to borrow from the pro-shop on the day.
What should I pack for camp day?
A packed lunch and snacks, a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat. Food is also available to purchase from the kiosk if you'd rather not pack lunch.
Are excursions included in the price?
No, excursions are optional and cost an extra $20 per child, including transport, and are only available to full-day campers.
Is before and after care available?
Yes, before and after care is available for families who need drop-off or pick-up outside standard camp hours; ask about this when booking.
Does my child need to already play Hot Shots to join a camp?
No. Camps welcome complete beginners as well as kids already enrolled in weekly Hot Shots lessons, and coaches group by age and ability so everyone is coached at the right level.
When do 2026 camps run?
Across every NSW school holiday break: 7 to 17 April, 6 to 17 July, 28 September to 9 October, and from 18 December 2026. Specific weekly schedules are confirmed closer to each break.
How do I book a spot?
